TLU Women's Track & Field claims second place in SCAC Championships team race

SEGUIN, Texas -- Sunday at Texas Lutheran University, the TLU Bulldogs produced a runner-up team finish in the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Championships.
 
The Bulldogs scored 149 points to trail only Trinity (287 points) in the seven-team race for the conference title.
 
After claiming three conference championships on Saturday, the Bulldogs took the individual title in the javelin (Tia Hart), won the women's 4x400 meter relay, and collected the individual win in the 400 (Jackie Mora) on Sunday.
 
Mora's win in the 400 gave her two individual victories in the championships. She won the 200 on Saturday. Mora's winning time in the 400 was 59.41 seconds. She won by over two seconds.
 
Hart also collected her second conference championship of the meet. After winning the shot put on Saturday, Hart won the javelin on Sunday. Hart's winning throw in the javelin was 35.83 meters (117 feet, 7 inches). She won by more than 16 feet.
 
The Bulldogs' winning 4x400 team crossed the line in 4:06.02. The relay team included Ja'Keia Williams, Kaylyn Samano, Caeli Taylor, and Mora.
 
TLU also registered runner-up conference finishes in the women's 4x100 relay, the 400 (Williams), the pole vault on Saturday (Lily Dawson), and the shot put on Saturday (Dejah Carr).
 
On Saturday, Carr won the hammer for a third consecutive time. On Sunday, Carr was third in the discus.
 
Taylor finished third in the women's 1,500 with a time of 4:54.66.
