Texas Lutheran Women in second after day one of SCAC Championships

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Track & Field scored 72 points on the opening day of the 2021 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships and holds second place in the team standings, 18 points behind day-one leader Trinity.
 
Bulldogs Jackie Mora, Tia Hart, and Dejah Carr won conference titles Saturday at Bulldog Stadium and the adjacent field event facilities.
 
Carr, a junior from Channelview, Texas, won her third consecutive conference title in the hammer. She won with a mark of 42.74 meters (140 feet, 3 inches). Her margin victory was over five feet.
 
Carr was second in the shot put to her teammate Hart, who won the event with a throw of 11.95 (39-2.50). Carr was second in 11.09 (36-4.75). Hart is a junior from Vanderbilt, Texas.
 
Mora, a freshman from Brownsville, Texas, won the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.41 seconds. She won the race by over a second.
 
Lily Dawson, a freshman from Lott, Texas, took second in the pole vault with a clearance of 9-11.25.
 
The SCAC Championships conclude Sunday at Bulldog Stadium. The women's 5,000-meter run at 8:30 a.m. will start the track events. The women's discus at 9 a.m. will start the field events.
