Three Texas Lutheran student-athletes collect SCAC Track & Field weekly honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Women's Track & Field student-athletes Dejah Carr and Jackie Mora and Men's Track & Field student-athlete Zachary Herman have been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week in their respective sports.

Carr, a junior from Channelview, Texas, has been selected as the SCAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

Carr chalked up an impressive second-place finish in the hammer throw at the Hardin-Simmons Invitational on Saturday. Her toss of 42.34 meters (138-11) was the farthest throw by an NCAA Division III athlete at the meet. Carr's mark leads all of DIII by almost 17 feet.

Mora, a freshman from Brownsville, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week.

Mora won the 200 meters, was third in the 100 meters, and was on the second-place 4x100 relay at the HSU Invitational. Her time in the 200 currently leads DIII.

Herman, a sophomore from Austin, has been selected the SCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week.

Herman won the shot put and was third in the hammer at the HSU Invitational. His toss in the shot of 14.71 meters (48-3.25) currently leads DIII by almost two feet.
 
The Bulldogs return to competition this Friday and Saturday with events at the Trinity University Invitational in San Antonio.
