  • Sunday's meeting will be the fourth meeting between TLU and Trinity in the championship game since the Bulldogs joined the conference in 2013 with the Tigers winning each of the previous three match-ups (2014, 2015, and 2017). It is the third time that No. 1 Trinity has faced No. 2 Texas Lutheran for the tournament title.
  • Trinity advanced to the finals by virtue of a 4-0 victory over No. 4 seed Schreiner while Texas Lutheran advanced following a penalty kick shootout with No. 3 Southwestern. The teams played to a 2-2 draw before TLU won 3-2 in PKs. Madison Johnson (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) was stellar in-goal making eight saves in the match.
  • Trinity swept the regular season series, outscoring the Bulldogs 7-0, as Trinity has currently outscored SCAC opponents 69-0 in 2022. Texas Lutheran is 0-20 against Trinity since joining the SCAC in 2013.
  • Texas Lutheran is making its 10th appearance in the SCAC Tournament - making the tournament every season since joining the SCAC in 2013. The Bulldogs are 9-8-1 overall (.528) with four SCAC Championship appearances (2014, 2015, 2017, 2022).
  • The Bulldogs have captured a program-record 11 conference wins, surpassing the previous record of 10, set by the 2004 and 2006 squads as members of the American Southwest Conference (ASC) with their Oct. 28 win over Schreiner.
  • With the Bulldogs win over Dallas on Oct. 21, Texas Lutheran secured its ninth conference win - the most conference wins since joining the SCAC in the fall of 2013.
  • Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) became the second Bulldog in program history to be named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year on Friday - joining Sioned Kirkpatrick in 2015. One of the conference's premier offensive talents, Simien is third in the SCAC in goals (16) and points (35). She officially set the program-record for most goals scored by a first-year player with her 15th goal of the season, overtaking the previous mark of 14 from Casey Rheman in 2003. Simien also moved into second all-time with six game winners in a single-season, only trailing Sioned Kirkpatrick's seven game winners in 2015. Simien was also named the United Soccer Coaches National Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 23.
  • First-Year Head Coach Kerwin Johnson's 11 wins are the most for a first-year head coach in program history.
  • The Bulldogs have nine different goal scorers in 2022, including five freshmen and six newcomers in total tallying at least one goal. Additionally, six Bulldogs have three or more goals. Seven Bulldogs have also made at least one assist this season.

The Tigers led by SCAC Coach of the Year Dylan Harrison have yet to lose a match outright this season, entering the match 19-0-1. The Tigers currently hold an 80-2 goal differential on the season as the Tigers enter the championship on an 18 match win streak.
