Cross Country Closes Out Season at NCAA West Regionals

PORTLAND, OR -- Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country closed out its season at the 2024 NCAA Division-III West Regionals Saturday afternoon at Milo McIver Park in Estacada, Oregon near Portland. Texas Lutheran traveled 13 runners to the regional, seven men and six women, and would finish 23rd in both races.

Freshman Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling) paced the Bulldogs, finishing 98th overall at 26:32.6, the fastest time in an NCAA Regional in program history, surpassing the previous mark held by Blake Westbrook who ran a 26:32.7 in 2017. Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East) followed Hernandez at 112th place, crossing the finish line at 26:49.1 Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) took 133rd at 27:36.3 while Jonas Martinez ran a personal-best time of 27:47.6 to finish 139th. Rees Snedaker (Wallis/Brazos), Isaiah Arriaga (Sugar Land/Dulles), and Gabriel Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley) who crossed the finish line in 144th, 149th, and 157th rounded out the scorers for the Bulldogs.

Freshman Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) led the Bulldogs with an 115th place finish at 24:38.4 while Gianna Kennedy (El Paso/El Paso) and Magdalyn Brown (San Antonio/Madison) followed close behind to finish in 117th and 119th place.

Aliyah Fonseca (Harlingen/Harlingen) and Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon) were the next scorers for Texas Lutheran, finishing 139th and 149th respectively with Alexis Albert (Falls City/Falls City) rounding out the Bulldogs scorers.
