Etzler Finishes Sixth to Lead Bulldogs at OLLU Classic

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country took on the OLLU Classic at the Windcrest Golf Course in San Antonio this morning.

Freshman Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling) dominated the competition, winning his second straight race, his second in three collegiate races, with a time of 26:09.9 - winning the race by thirty eight seconds. The time marks the second fastest in program history, trailing only Carlos Cura's 26:01.7 in 2022.

Texas Lutheran placed four runners in the top 15, with Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East) placing 12th with a time of 28:20.1, Isaiah Arriaga (Sugar Land/Dulles) finishing 13th with a time of 28:38.0, and Rees Snedaker (Wallis/Brazos) posting a time of 28:51.6 to finish 15th.

Gabriel Ceballos (San Antonio/Smithson Valley), Jonas Martinez (Edinburg/Homeschool), and Gavin Godinez (Argyle/Byron Nelson) were next to cross the finish line for the Bulldogs with 22nd, 26th, and 32nd place finishes. The Bulldogs finished third behind Our Lady of the Lake and Division-II Texas A&M Kingsville.

In the women's 6K, it was Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) once again leading the way for the Bulldogs, finishing sixth with a time of 24:23. Following Etzler was freshman Audrey Malbrough (Selma/Veterans Memorial) who posted a time of 25:20 to finish in tenth place. Only seconds behind was Gianna Kennedy (El Paso/El Paso) with an 11th overall finish. 

San Antonio native Magdalyn Brown (San Antonio/Madison) grabbed a 13th place finish and a time of 25:38, which gave TLU four runners in the top half of the 26 runner field. Alexis Albert (Falls City/Falls City), Cooper Lindstrom (San Antonio/TMI Episcopal), and Anissa Ojeda (Carrizo Springs/Carrizo Springs) were next for the Bulldogs finishing 17th, 22nd, and 23rd, respectively.

The Bulldogs also finished third in the race behind Texas A&M Kingsville and Our Lady of the Lake.
