Bulldogs Cross Country Opens Season with Stormy Seas Opener

GEORGETOWN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran men's and women's cross country kicked off their respective seasons Friday morning at the Stormy Seas Opener hosted by Southwestern University on their campus in Georgetown.

Women's cross country took the course first, finishing sixth overall and fourth amongst Division-III teams. Emma Etzler (Hallettsville/Hallettsville) was the first Bulldog to cross the line with her 34th place overall finish, eighth amongst Division-III runners, with a time of 21:04.86. Mackenzie Combs (New Braunfels/Canyon), who for the first time in her career did not lead the pack for TLU, finished 40th overall (11th amongst Division-III runners) while freshman Magdalyn Brown (San Antonio/Madison) joined Etzler and Combs in the top 50 of the 100+ runner race with a 48th place finish.

On the men's side, freshman Angel Miguel Hernandez (Luling/Luling) led the Bulldogs with a top 20 finish, finishing 18th - second amongst Division-III runners - with a time of 16:11.29. Sophomore Wesley Holub (Wallis/Brazos) found his way into the top 25 with a time of 16:35.69, the ninth best time amongst Division-III runners. Lucas Falcon (Victoria/Victoria East), Isaiah Arriaga (Sugar Land/Dulles), and Rees Snedaker (Wallis/Brazos) all finished in the top 40 of the 100+ runner race to wrap the Bulldogs top five pack. As a team, the men finished fourth overall.
