TLU's Kylee Garcia sets school record, earns All-Region honor at regional championship

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Texas Lutheran senior Kylee Garcia (Wichita Falls/Rider) set the new school record for a 6K course with a time of 22 minutes, 54.6 seconds and earned All-Region honors with a 28th-place finish at the 2019 NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Cross Country Championships.
 
At Shelby Farms Park, Garcia claimed All-Region honors by finishing in the top 35.
 
A total of 242 runners started Saturday's championship race, hosted by Rhodes College.
 
Garcia was fourth among Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference runners competing in the championship.
 
Garcia also finished ahead of all American Southwest Conference runners. TLU, a former member of the ASC, competes regularly in cross country meets against ASC schools.
 
Garcia averaged 6:08.5 per mile and 3:49.1 per kilometer.
 
An all-conference performer in the SCAC, Garcia will graduate from TLU in December.
