Chew, Coldewey Earn SCAC Weekly Honors
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran senior setter Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) was named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Setter of the Week, and senior libero Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) was named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday by the conference office.
Chew earned her first career SCAC weekly honor. She led the Bulldogs to three victories with 5.92 assists per set and 3.00 digs per set. She finished one assist shy of her career-high, tallying 30 assists against Colorado College along with 13 digs. Chew had three double-doubles on the week, including 23 assists and 11 digs. Overall, Chew set the Bulldogs to a .206 hitting percentage in the three wins.
Coldewey earns her third SCAC Defensive Player of the Week of the season and of her career. Coldewey had a career-high 39 digs in a five set win over Colorado College on Friday and followed up with 33 digs against St. Thomas in a 3-1 win and 21 digs in a sweep of Austin College. Coldewey helped hold the 'Roos to a .150 hitting percentage. For the week, Coldewey averaged 7.75 digs per set. Coldewey ranks seventh nationally in digs per set (6.18) and 17th overall with 593 digs on the season. Texas Lutheran as a team leads the country with an average of 21.59 digs per set.
Texas Lutheran turns its attention to the 2024 SCAC Tournament as the Bulldogs will open with a rematch against the 'Roos on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10:30 AM at Austin College. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
