Volleyball Sweeps Austin College in Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball picked up its 12th sweep of the season to conclude the regular season, taking down Austin College, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23, to complete the sweep of the three-match weekend.

Texas Lutheran finished the match with seven blocks, led by three from Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear).

Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) led the Bulldogs with 13 kills, while hitting .571, and added two blocks. Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) finished with a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs and two blocks. Nadia Dunn (Houston/Pearland) added eight kills while Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) finished with six kills.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) dished out 23 assists and added 11 digs for a double-double and Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) contributed 21 assists and 16 digs for a double-double of her own. Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) led the team with 21 digs.

The first set was close throughout and TLU trailed 18-14 before going on an 11-5 run to close the set. Dunn led the Bulldogs with five kills in the set.

The Bulldogs jumped out on the 'Roos to start the second set and were up 18-15 before cruising to a 25-18 second set win. Lozano-Lomeli dominated the second set with seven kills and a block.

Texas Lutheran put the match away with a 25-23 win in the third set as Nedd led the Bulldogs with four kills in the final set.

Texas Lutheran turns its attention to the 2024 SCAC Tournament as the Bulldogs will open with a rematch against the 'Roos on Friday, No. 15 at 10:30 AM at Austin College. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
