SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball wrapped up non-conference play with a 3-0 sweep of Randolph-Macon, 25-22, 25-12, 25-18, on Friday at Calgaard Gymnasium on the campus of Trinity University.
Texas Lutheran hit .279 for the match en route to their ninth sweep of the season.
Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) led the way with 14 kills and a .344 hitting percentage, while adding three service aces, three digs, and a block.
Nadia Dunn (Houston/Pearland) finished with eight kills on 13 attempts for a .615 hitting percentage while Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) added seven kills on 11 attempts for a .636 hitting percentage. Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) led the Bulldogs with three total blocks and added four kills and two service aces.
Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) had another strong back row performance, finishing with a match-high 17 digs and seven assists. She is now averaging 5.79 digs per set to lead the SCAC and rank in the top 15 nationally in Division-III.
Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) and Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) each finished with double-doubles. Respondek finished with 15 assists, 11 digs, and a kill while Chew tallied 13 assists, 11 digs, and two service aces.
The Bulldogs held off a late-set rally from the Yellow Jackets to win the first set 25-22, hitting .312 and getting five kills and a block from Nedd. Lozano-Lomeli added four kills of her own.
The Bulldogs cruised to a 25-12 win in the second set as Texas Lutheran took a 2-0 lead. Nedd led the way with three more kills in the second set.
Texas Lutheran put the match away and secured the sweep with a 25-18 third set win behind six kills each from Dunn and Nedd.
The Bulldogs will return to Memorial Gymnasium on Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Concordia (TX) at 6 PM. The match will serve as the Bulldogs annual "Dig Pink" game as fans are encouraged to wear pink to Tuesday's match. The match will be streamed on TLU+.
