Volleyball Sweeps Dallas for Fourth Straight Sweep

ABILENE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran volleyball (13-5, 6-1 SCAC) cruised to a 3-0 sweep over Dallas, 25-17, 25-17, 25-23, Saturday night in Abilene for their fourth straight sweep and third of the weekend.

Freshman Nadia Dunn (Houston/Pearland) led Texas Lutheran with a career-high 15 kills with a .519 hitting percentage while Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) had nine kills and hit .318.

Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) dished out a match-high 17 assists and added six digs and the match-ending kill.

Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) led the Bulldogs with 20 digs.

The opening set started close as Dallas started the match with a 4-1 run before a 13-4 run from TLU gave the Bulldogs a 13-8 lead. The Bulldogs would stretch their lead and take the first set, 25-17, while hitting .286 led by six kills from Dunn.

The second set was similar to the first as TLU grew a commanding lead after a tight start, holding the Crusaders to a sub-.200 hitting percentage for consecutive sets.

Texas Lutheran had to battle to put the match away as Dallas wouldn't go away quietly, having their best set of the match. Texas Lutheran would rise to the challenge hitting a match-high .302 in the final set. The set went down to the wire as the two teams were tied 19-all before the Bulldogs would complete the sweep with a 25-23 set win.

The Bulldogs will square off with No. 22 Trinity for the second time this season on Friday, Oct. 18, at 6 PM in San Antonio. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
