Volleyball Sweeps Huston-Tillotson

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball swept Huston-Tillotson, 25-8, 25-14, 25-17, on the campus of Huston-Tillotson in Austin Wednesday night.

Texas Lutheran finished the match with a .388 hitting percentage, while holding Huston-Tillotson to an .054 hitting percentage.

Brylie Nedd (Sealy/Sealy) led the way with 12 kills, two digs, two aces, and an assist, while hitting .444 in the match. Freshman Moriah Williams (San Antonio/Roosevelt) finished with a career-high ten kills and a .692 hitting percentage.

Andie Lozano-Lomeli (Brownsville/Pace) had a team-high four blocks and added four kills with a .571 hitting percentage. Julia Chew (Cypress/Cy-Fair) led the Bulldogs with 16 assists Wednesday.

Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) had a good all-around match with 15 digs and three assists while matching her career-high with six service aces.

The Bulldogs stormed out of the gates and rolled to an emphatic 25-8 win in the opening set. TLU was outstanding all-around and served four service aces while hitting .500 in the set. The Bulldogs also had two blocks in the set and held the Rams to a negative hitting percentage.

TLU jumped out to yet another huge lead in the second set, rolling past the Rams to win the second set 25-14.

The Rams started well in the third set as they fought to stay alive - keeping the match the closest it had been all night. TLU would close the match on a 7-2 run to secure the sweep, their fifth so far this season.

Texas Lutheran will enjoy the weekend off before returning to the court and SCAC play on Oct. 11 against McMurry at 6 PM for the first of three SCAC matches in Abilene on the weekend.
