Volleyball Falls to No. 15 Trinity

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Volleyball was swept by No. 15 Trinity 25-18, 25-13, 25-18 in front of a large crowd for their 2024 home and SCAC opener.

The loss is their first loss at home since losing to Trinity in the regular season finale of the 2022 season. The Bulldogs (6-5, 0-1 SCAC) will be back in action on Saturday at 12 PM against Schreiner at Memorial Gymnasium. Saturday's game is scheduled for a white out for Bulldog fans. Zaria Solis (Burnet/Burnet) and Ryann Ely (Montgomery/Concordia Lutheran) led the Bulldogs with eight kills each. Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) dished out 13 assists, while Faith Coldewey (Floresville/Floresville) finished with a team-high 10 digs. Victoria Powell (Richmond/Fulshear) finished with a team-high three blocks.

After a back and forth start in the first set, Trinity used a string of runs to pull away for a 25-18 win to open the match. The Tigers hit .364 while holding the Bulldogs to just a .132 hitting percentage.

The Tigers grabbed a 2-0 lead in the match with a 25-13 win in the second set as the Tigers jumped out to a big lead early in the set and cruised the rest of the way.

The Bulldogs held a 13-12 lead in the third set before Trinity rattled off a 12-5 run to close the match to complete the sweep with a 25-18 win.
