Volleyball's Morris Named SCAC Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran volleyball's Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the league office announced Monday.

Morris earns her second SCAC Defensive Player of the Week recognition this season and fifth of her career after anchoring the Texas Lutheran back line and leading the Bulldogs to a 3-0 weekend that included a pair of sweeps. The senior had 63 digs and averaged 0.70 digs per set over the course of the three matches.

In the 3-1 victory over Austin College, Morris had 28 digs and two assists. She combined for 35 digs and nine assists in the sweeps of Dallas and Centenary (LA). After leading the country in digs last season, Morris is currently ranked second in NCAA Division-III with 535 total digs on the season. Morris is now 82 digs away from matching the TLU all-time career record for digs currently held by Megan Lee (2,409, 2011-14).

After a mid-week road back-to-back against Huston-Tillotson (Oct. 18) and Our Lady of the Lake (Oct. 19), Texas Lutheran will be back home for its final four matches of the season starting with a match against Southwestern on Friday, Oct. 21, at 6 PM at Memorial Gymnasium.
