Volleyball Sweeps Dallas, 3-0

SHERMAN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran swept its tenth match of the season, beating University of Dallas emphatically in straight sets on Friday in Hughey Gymnasium on the campus of Austin College.

The Bulldogs (21-5, 9-2 SCAC) hit .229 in the match while holding the Crusaders to a .119 hitting percentage. The 21-win mark is the most for Texas Lutheran since joining the SCAC and the most total since 2007's 22-win season as a member of the American Southwest Conference.

Maddy Schultz's (Richmond/Needville) dominant season continued, leading the Bulldogs with 10 kills, three digs, and a block. Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) finished with nine kills and team-high four blocks - tallying a team-high 11.5 points. Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) added seven kills, a block, and a service ace.

Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) had her second double-double of the day and 15th of the season with 17 assists and 15 digs. Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) finished with a team-high 16 digs.

Texas Lutheran opened the first set with a 10-3 run and never looked back to run away with the opening set, 25-18.

TLU took a 2-0 lead with a 25-17 win in the second set.

The third set was totally dominant from the Bulldogs, cruising to a 25-15 win to complete the sweep.

Texas Lutheran concludes this weekend's SCAC Divisional with a 10 AM match against Centenary (LA) on Saturday, Oct. 15. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
