Volleyball Sweeps Centenary

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran volleyball remained unbeaten at home with a 3-0 sweep of Centenary College (LA), 25-14, 25-13, 25-7, Saturday afternoon at Memorial Gymnasium.

The win marked Texas Lutheran's 11th sweep of the season.

Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) led the Bulldogs with 10 kills, finishing with a .500 hitting percentage and 4 blocks - giving her 11 blocks to begin the weekend. Tanyse Moehrig-Woodard (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) had 9 kills, 4 blocks and 3 digs.

Kacie Hall (Buda/Hays) had 4 kills and 5 digs while Peyton Sulak (Needville/Needville) had 3 blocks, 3 kills and a service ace.

Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) finished with 16 assists, 4 digs and a service ace. Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) had 20 digs, 2 service aces and an assist.

Texas Lutheran started off hot jumping out to a big lead with the Ladies of Centenary never threatening to take the first set from the Bulldogs. Centenary held an early advantage in the second set before the Bulldogs knotted the set 6-6 and never looked back as they set the tone for the remainder of the match outscoring the Ladies 19-4 to close the set. The first set was reminiscent of the first set as the Bulldogs asserted their dominance to clinch the sweep with a 25-7 third set win.

Texas Lutheran will host their final two matches of the regular season Sunday at Memorial Gymnasium to conclude the SCAC Divisional Weekend. The Bulldogs will face the University of Dallas at 10 AM Sunday morning before facing the 7th-ranked Colorado College Tigers at 2PM. The Bulldogs will celebrate their 2 seniors, Kacie Hall and Hayden Smyers, at the conclusion of the second match. All streaming and stat links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
