Texas Lutheran Falls to #16 Southwestern in Four Sets

KERRVILLE, TX -- The Texas Lutheran Volleyball team (13-11, 4-6 SCAC) fell to No. 16 Southwestern (21-2, 11-2 SCAC) on the campus of Schreiner University Saturday night in four sets (22-25, 26-24, 25-27, 23-25).

It was a hard fought match throughout as the Bulldogs pushed the 16th-ranked Pirates to their limits over the course of the four sets.

Texas Lutheran's Tanyse Moehrig-Woodard (Spring Branch/Smithson Valley) had 14 kills to lead all Bulldogs. The Spring Branch, Texas, native hit .278 with 14 kills on 36 swings. As a team, Texas Lutheran hit .112 for the match and was on the verge of pushing one of the top teams in the country to five sets. Madison Weisinger (Friendswood/Friendswood) and Maddy Schultz (Needville/Needville) led the Bulldogs in blocks - both finishing with four.

Shavonne Respondek (San Antonio/Madison) had 20 assists for the Bulldogs to go along with 6 digs. Lexi Morris (Victoria/Victoria West) added 39 digs to her conference leading tally while Hayden Smyers (Needville/Needville) added an additional 17 digs.
