Bulldogs complete regular-season sweep of St. Thomas, drop four-set match to Austin

SAN ANTONIO -- At the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crossover Tournament at Trinity University on Friday, the Texas Lutheran Bulldogs completed a regular-season sweep of St. Thomas and registered a loss to Austin College.
 
TLU defeated St. Thomas 25-11, 14-25, 25-18, 25-20. Austin College took a four-set win over the Bulldogs by a score of 12-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-21.
 
TLU is 15-12 overall and 6-6 in the SCAC. The Bulldogs currently sit in fifth in the SCAC regular-season standings. The top six teams qualify for the SCAC Tournament, set for Nov. 8-10 at TLU.
 
Against St. Thomas, Bulldog middle blocker Peyton Sulak led the team in kills, with 14. She also added 10 digs. Paige Day and Bryten Mitchan each collected 13 kills.
 
Lexi Morris posted 31 digs, and Jaci Chambers and Kelly Jurden each recorded 22 assists. Day served a pair of aces.
 
In the loss to Austin, Savhannah Kitchens led TLU with nine kills and four blocks. Day added eight kills and 23 digs.
 
Kelsi Menn picked up four blocks, and Sulak served three aces. Chambers tallied 17 assists and 12 digs.
 
TLU concludes SCAC Crossover play at Trinity with Saturday matches against Johnson & Wales - Denver (11 a.m.) and Trinity (4:30 p.m.).
