TLU's Kelsi Menn named SCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Kelsi Menn, Texas Lutheran's senior middle blocker from San Antonio, Texas, has been named Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, Oct. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 13.

Menn led TLU to a 3-0 week while collecting 11 total blocks.

In the four-set victory over Southwestern, which snapped a 24-game losing skid to the Pirates, Menn registered seven block assists and contributed 11.5 total points.

Menn also was productive on the offensive end with eight kills, hitting .316 in the victory.

In the three-set victories over Belhaven and LeTourneau, Menn had a combined four blocks for the Bulldogs.

Menn's award is the third SCAC defensive honor for TLU this year. Lexi Morris, the Bulldogs' freshman libero, took the award in Week 1 and Week 5.

TLU has won four straight and holds a 14-11 overall record with a 5-5 mark in the SCAC. TLU is a tie for fifth in the SCAC standings.

The Bulldogs play four conference matches this weekend in the SCAC Crossover at Trinity University. The Bulldogs play Austin College and St. Thomas (Texas) on Friday and Johnson & Wales - Denver and Trinity on Saturday. 

Other impressive performances in the SCAC: 
Junior Annie Rose Leggett of Trinity led the Tigers in digs for the fouth consecutive week, including 77 digs resulting in 5.50 digs per set. She posted double-doubles against #11 Ohio Northern and UCSC, as well as setting a new career-high of 27 digs against Mary Hardin-Baylor. Sophomore Dayjah Whyte of Dallas was a force on the front row with 15 total block assists, including a career-high seven in the Crusader's 3-2 victory over Monmouth College. She added another three in the win over Lakeland University landing her on the All-Tounrament Team. Whyte had a pair of double-digit kill performances in both wins as well to help contribute to her 42.5 points on the quartet of games.Sophomore Georgia Mullins of Colorado College was named to the Colorado College Invitational All-Tournament team after leading the Tigers to victories over Illinois College, Randolph-Macon College and DePauw University. Mullins had a hand in eight total block assists as the Tigers held their three opponents to a combined .156 hitting percentage. Sophomore Mariah Regan of St. Thomas recored 39 total digs to help the Celts to a 1-2 week. She took over libero duties in the second set of each of UST's matches against NAIA opponents, recording 16 digs against Huston-Tillotson, followed by a 15 digs against Xavier (La.).
