Bulldogs Close Out David Noble Relays

SAN ANGELO, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's track and field team wrapped up the David Noble Relays on the campus of Angelo State University on Saturday.

Following a third place finish at last week's D3 Challenge, the TLU 4x100 relay team comprised of Leilani Lopez (San Antonio/St. Anthony Catholic), Ja'Keia Williams (La Grange/La Grange), Taylor Norrell (Lake Jackson/Brazosport), and Sirena Gomez (Robstown/Banquete) collected a fifth place finish with a time 49.82 seconds. The time made for first amongst Division-III relay teams.

In throws, Julissa Rodriguez (Deer Park/Deer Park) made the finals in the hammer throw and discus throw - finishing in ninth place and first amongst Division-III competitors in both events. Rodriguez finished the hammer throw with a mark of 41.55-meters while throwing 37.75 meters in the discus - both personal records.

Coach Holland's Comments: We continue to see improvement and personal bests. I'd say our best performances came from Julissa Rodriguez in both the Hammer and Discus events and our women's 4x100 relay. Julissa made Finals in both those events and personal bests as well. The 4x100 relay posted their best time of the season with three freshmen and a sophomore.

We are always looking forward to the next week and how we can improve as we move along into the season.
