Bulldogs' Jackie Mora runs in 200 at Texas State's Bobcat Classic

SAN MARCOS, Texas -- At Texas State's Bobcat Classic on Saturday, Women's Track & Field stand-out Jackie Mora competed in the 200 and was fourth in her heat with a time of 25.93.

She was the only D3 student-athlete in the field.

On Sunday, Men's Track & Field redshirt freshman Scottie Reyes set a new school record in the men's discus and moved into the NCAA Division III Top 10 rankings for the event.

Reyes is now ninth nationally with a toss of 50.17 meters (164 feet, 7 inches) at the meet.

Reyes' mark Sunday in the discus placed him second in the largely NCAA Division I meet.

Reyes first broke the school record in the discus on April 10 at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational. Reyes' mark that day was 160-2. Before Reyes' two throws this year, the school record was held by Cody Thornburg, who threw 157-6 in 2017.

Also at Texas State on Sunday, Zachary Herman set a new personal record in the shot put with a mark of 15.02 (49-3.5), and he moved up to 38th in the latest D3 national rankings.

Reyes did not better his best shot put effort of 2021 on Sunday, but he still ranks 18th in D3 with his toss of 15.74 (51-7.75) from the 2021 SCAC Track & Field Championships.

Reyes finished sixth in the shot put at Texas State. Herman was seventh.

A select few members of the Men's Track & Field team will compete this Friday at the University of Houston and this Saturday at Texas A&M University. At both meets, the Bulldogs will race in the men's 4x100 relay and the 100 and compete in the shot put and discus.
