Texas Lutheran competes at TAMUK's Cactus Cup in preparation for SCAC Championships

KINGSVILLE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran Men's and Women's Track & Field squads competed Friday and Saturday in their final events before this coming weekend's Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Track & Field Championships, hosted by TLU at Bulldog Stadium on Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25.
 
The Bulldogs competed Friday and Saturday at the Texas A&M-Kingsville Cactus Cup.
 
TLU's Caimen McDonough was the top NCAA Division III competitor in the men's long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 4.75 inches (6.52 meters). He finished fifth overall.
 
McDonough also recorded a tie for fifth in the high jump with a clearance of 5-10.75 (1.80 meters) and a third-place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 43-8 (13.31 meters).
 
Scottie Reyes placed third in the discus with a toss of 156-4 (47.65 meters).
 
TLU's Caeli Taylor won the women's 1,500 meters with a time of 5 minutes, 10.19 seconds. The field for the 1,500 included two other Bulldogs and one runner from TAMUK.
 
Johari Dramiga won the men's 1,500. The field included Dramiga and teammate Hector Hornedo. Dramiga won in a time of 5:03.52.
 
Jackie Mora finished first in the women's 400 with a time of 1:00.52. Mora won the race by two seconds over Cassandra Williams of Trinity. 
 
Dillan Wendel took second in the men's 800 with a time of 1:58.96.
