Texas Lutheran's Lyssy, Taylor pick up SCAC Women's Track & Field weekly honors

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran student-athletes Caeli Taylor and Lydia Lyssy have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively.
 
Taylor, a freshman from Tilden, Texas, ran a new personal record (PR) of 4 minutes, 58.32 seconds in the 1,500 meters on a blustery day at the Angelo State University David Noble Relays. She was eighth overall, with only NCAA Division II athletes beating her time.
 
Lyssy, a junior from Poth, Texas, earned a spot in the discus finals at the David Noble Relays and just missed a PR in the event with a toss of 36.46 meters (119 feet, 7 inches). She was seventh overall and was the only NCAA Division III athlete to make the finals. She also was 13th in the hammer throw with a toss of 28.92m (94-10). 
 
Other outstanding field performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Bailey Dueitt of Trinity jumped a new personal record at the David Noble Relays in the pole vault. Her 3.15m mark placed her second in the meet.

First-year Danya Selber of Trinity ran two new personal bests in the 100 (12.85) and 200 (26.75) at the David Noble Relays.
