Texas Lutheran's Ashley Rynard named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete

SEGUIN, Texas -- Recent Texas Lutheran graduate Ashley Rynard (Temple/Temple) has been named an United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Athlete for the second time in her career.

Rynard, an Indoor Track & Field All-American in 2019, was ranked in the NCAA Division III Top 50 this past year in the indoor 800-meter dash.

To qualify for the All-Academic award, Rynard needed to be ranked in the Top 50 and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 (or higher) on a 4.0 scale.

Rynard, an education major, graduated with a cumulative grade point average of 3.588.

A four-year member of both the TLU Women's Cross Country and Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field teams, Rynard finished sixth in the 800 at the 2019 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field National Championships.

In her final SCAC Track & Field Championships, also in 2019, Rynard won the 800 and the 1,500, and anchored the Bulldogs' winning 4x400 relay team. Rynard erased a 30-meter gap on the final lap to overtake a Trinity University runner down the final stretch.

In addition to her stellar performances on the track, Rynard was TLU's first-ever Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference all-conference performer in women's cross country. She achieved that honor in 2018.

Rynard was one of 10 TLU seniors this year to earn her fourth consecutive SCAC Academic Honor Roll award.

Rynard was the 2018-19 TLU Female Athlete of the Year.
