Women's Tennis Sweeps Sul Ross State, 6-0
SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's tennis earned a 6-0 victory over Division-II opponent, Sul Ross State, Friday afternoon at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center. The sweep marks the first sweep by the Bulldogs since March 2023.
Texas Lutheran improves to 1-5 on the season while Sul Ross falls to 0-5. The Bulldogs would only drop one set total on Friday.
The teams of sophomore Lindsay Beville (New Braunfels/Canyon) and freshman Lucero Alvarado and junior Kassidee Webb (Castroville/Medina Valley) and freshman Serenity Cabrera (San Antonio/New Braunfels) got the Bulldogs rolling, winning their doubles matches by scores of 6-0.
The Bulldogs quartet all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 while Mercedes Tirado (Seguin/Navarro) won her singles match 6-1, 6-0 to complete the sweep.
Lucero Alvarado and Serenity Cabrera would each earn their first collegiate singles wins on Friday.
The two teams will face off again at TLU's Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center Saturday morning at 10 AM.
