ALPINE, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's tennis improved to 2-8 Friday night after defeating Sul Ross State 5-4 in Alpine. The win marks the third straight over the Lobos dating back to last season.

Texas Lutheran would trail the Lobos, 2-1 after the doubles matches with the Speyrer sisters, Abbie Speyrer (Shallowater/Shallowater) and Allie Speyrer (Shallowater/Shallowater) winning their doubles match, 8-7, for their second win of the season as a team and the team of Lindsay Beville (New Braunfels/Canyon) and Cooper Lindstrom (San Antonio/TMI Episcopal) dropping the tiebreaker to fall in their match, 7-8.

Cooper Lindstrom, Mercedes Tirado (Seguin/Navarro), and Abbie Speyrer would win in straight sets with Speyrer picking up the match winning decision in the No. 5 spot. Allie Speyrer would need a decisive third set to win her match 2-6, 6-4, 6-2.
