Texas Lutheran Competes in Day One of Women's ITA Southwest Regional Championships

ABILENE, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's tennis team competed in day one of the 2023 ITA Southwest Regional Championships Thursday hosted by Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.

The Bulldogs dropped both of their singles outings in straight sets in the A Draw Thursday afternoon.

Lindsay Beville (New Braunfels/Canyon) fell in straight sets 1-6, 3-6 while Christa Bennett (Tarkington/Deer Park) fell 0-6, 1-6. Both will compete in the consolation bracket as well as doubles competition on Friday.

Abbie Speyrer and Allie Speyrer (Shallowater/Shallowater) along with Cooper Lindstrom (San Antonio/TMI Episcopal) all advanced by default on Thursday and will see their first action on Friday.

The ITA Southwest Regional Championships continue on Friday with the Bulldogs competing in singles and doubles competition. Live stats are available here.
