Bulldogs Fall to Whitworth, 7-2

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's tennis dropped their home non-conference match to Whitworth University, 7-2, Tuesday afternoon at Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center to fall to 1-10 on the season.

The team of Victoria Gonzalez (Harlingen/Harlingen) and Christa Bennett (Deer Park/Deer Park) would pick up their second doubles victory as a team, winning their match, 8-6. The match made for Gonzalez's second consecutive doubles win after winning with Haley Hoffmann last week against St. Thomas. On the season, Gonzalez has four doubles wins, two with Hoffmann and two with Bennett.

The team of Kaitlyn Enloe (Seguin/Seguin) and Paula Acosta (Katy/Cinco Ranch) played to a competitive 7-8 finish.

In singles competition, it would be freshman Abbie Speyrer (Shallowater/Shallowater) who would pick up Texas Lutheran's lone singles victory on Tuesday. Speyrer would need a decisive third set but would come out on top 5-7, 6-4, 10-8. The win makes for the first of Speyrer's college career.

Up next, Texas Lutheran continues its homestand as they welcome the Sul Ross State Lobos to Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center on March 30 for the first of back-to-back matches with the ASC foe. First serve is set for 4 PM.
