Women's Tennis Picks Up Home Win Against Goucher

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's tennis returned to the win column with a hard-fought 5-4 win at Ohlenbusch-Rinn Tennis Center on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs picked up two doubles points and then won three out of six singles matches to improve their record to 2-7 this spring, and will quickly shift their focus to University of the Ozarks on March 23.

The Bulldogs picked up a pair of doubles wins from Elena Brancaleon (San Antonio/Brandeis) and Paula Acosta, 8-7, and Kayleigh Gardner (El Campo/El Campo) and Kara Bucey (Corpus Christi/London), 8-3 to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs rolled out the same singles lineup as their last match. Brancaleon picked up her third singles win of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Her doubles partner, Paula Acosta, was next to pick up a victory for the Bulldogs with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Haley Hoffmann (Seguin/Navarro) secured the team victory with a 6-2, 6-1 singles victory.
