Dominant First Half Powers Texas Lutheran in Win Over Dallas

IRVING, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's soccer opened SCAC play with a dominant 4-2 win over Dallas Friday night in Irving, Texas. TLU improves to 5-3-1 and 1-0 in SCAC play.

Texas Lutheran struck first scoring three unanswered goals on the Crusaders (2-5, 0-1 SCAC) before the Crusaders would avoid the shutout with a 43rd minute goal as TLU carried a 3-1 lead into halftime. Freshman Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) would score her second goal of the night in the 53rd minute to provide some extra insurance for the Bulldogs. The Crusaders would score in the 85th minute to bring the game to its final score of 4-2.

For the second straight game the Bulldogs came out firing, as Noblett scored the game's first goal 1:57 seconds into the match via an assist from fellow Warren Warrior Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren). The goal is the tenth fastest goal scored in program history. Simien would strike for a goal of her own in the 17th minute, her fifth of the season, to double the Bulldogs lead to 2-0 via an assist from Caitlin Roach (Manvel/Manvel).

The Bulldogs increased their lead to 3-0 just seven minutes later as senior Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill) scored her first goal of the season. With the goal, Wolfe has scored in all five seasons as a Bulldog - the first Bulldog to ever do so. The Crusaders cut into the lead in the 43rd as the score would be 3-1 after the first 45 minutes of play.

With the Bulldogs holding on to a two-goal lead, Noblett struck again in the 53rd-minute to seal the win as the freshman netted her first career brace on Friday. Noblett currently leads all SCAC freshmen with four goals and nine points so far on the season. Dallas would net their final goal in the 85th minute as the game started to wind down.

TLU outshot Dallas 19-4 and had 11 shots on goal to the Crusaders' two. Every active member of the Bulldogs roster played Friday night.

Up next, TLU returns to Gustafson Field as they continue their conference opening weekend against Austin College on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 2 PM. The match will be streamed on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
