Bulldogs Fall to #18 Hardin-Simmons in Season Opener

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team fell to the 18th-ranked Hardin-Simmons Cowgirls, 2-1, in the team's 2024 season opener at Gustafson Field.

Freshman Lilly Noblett (San Antonio/Warren) scored the Bulldogs lone goal - her first collegiate goal - in the 33rd minute via assists from Callie Brame (San Antonio/Churchill) and Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy. Despite a career-high nine saves in-goal, Alysa Marquez (Miami, FL/Dr. Michael Krop) picked up the losing decision allowing two first half goals.

Despite the top billing from the Cowgirls, the Bulldogs controlled possession for a majority of the opening half. The Cowgirls would find the back of the net in the 15th and 26th minutes to take a 2-0 advantage before the Bulldogs would respond with a goal of their own. Both teams would be held scoreless in the second half.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch next Friday, Sept. 6, for a non-conference match against Trinity University at 6 PM. All streaming and live stream links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
