TLU Blanks Austin College, 4-0

SHERMAN, Texas -- In a thorough team victory, TLU recorded its third straight road shutout Friday night, 4-0 over Austin College. Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren), Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy), Elaina Barrientes (Lubbock/Coronado), and Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill) scored goals for the Bulldogs, while Simien and Ana Parra (San Antonio/Brennan) added assists.

Simien and Martinez continue to sit atop the SCAC goal leaders with Simien leading the conference with nine goals while Martinez sits in second with eight. Simien also leads the SCAC in points and shots while ranking second in the conference in assists (3).

After 11 shots in the first half, Texas Lutheran would keep the pressure on with 17 shots in the second half. The Bulldogs would connect on their third goal of the match in the 55th minute as Elaina Barrientes would score in her second consecutive match via an assist from Ana Parra to increase the TLU lead to 3-0. The assist is Parra's SCAC-leading fifth assist of the season.

With the game nearing an end, senior Kelly Wolfe would net an 84th-minute penalty kick for the Bulldogs final goal of the match.

The Bulldogs fired a season-high 28 shots and kept constant pressure on the Austin College backline. Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) picked up the shutout in goal for the Bulldogs, their third of the season. Texas Lutheran has outscored SCAC opponents 7-0 on the road in SCAC play this season, shutting out all three of their regular season road SCAC contests.
