Simien Named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran women's soccer junior Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) was named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday. Simien earned the honor after netting a brace in the Bulldogs' 4-2 comeback victory at Schreiner Friday afternoon.

The honor is Simien's third career weekly conference honor - earning Offensive Player of the Week in her inaugural season with the Bulldogs last year.

The junior scored twice in the second half to guide the Bulldogs comeback against the Mountaineers. Simien picked up where she left off in 2022, tying the game at 2-all with her first goal of the 2023 season. Simien would go back-to-back scoring the game-winner off of a free kick in the 83rd-minute. The game-winner is the seventh in her young TLU career - moving her into fifth all-time in program history. The brace was the fifth of her Bulldogs career.

Last season Simien finished third in the SCAC with 35 points - earning her SCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors - and currently sits tied for first after the opening weekend of the 2023 season.

Texas Lutheran will travel to California for a two-game road trip next weekend starting with a first-time ever matchup with the Caltech Beavers on Friday, September 8, at 6:30 CST/4:30 PDT. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
