Simien Earns Top Honors from SCAC; Five Bulldogs Receive All-SCAC Nod

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran's Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) has been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Co-Offensive Player of the Year, while five Bulldogs were selected to the All-SCAC Teams as the SCAC announced its women's soccer awards on Friday.

Simien earned All-SCAC First Team accolades alongside junior defender Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill). Freshmen Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) and Ana Parra earned second team honors and joined fellow freshman Elaina Barrientes (Lubbock/Coronado) on the SCAC All-Freshman team. It marks the sixth time in program history Texas Lutheran has registered five or more All-SCAC selections in a single-season (2021,2020-21, 2015, 2014, 2013).

A native of San Antonio, Simien becomes the second Bulldog in program history to be named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year joining Sioned Kirkpatrick in 2015. One of the conference's premier offensive talents, Simien is third in the SCAC in goals (15) and points (33).

Simien totaled 13 goals against SCAC opponents, including six in her last four games.

Kelly Wolfe, also a native of San Antonio, adds to her career accolades that saw her named SCAC Newcomer of the Year in 2020-21 and All-SCAC Honorable Mention the last two seasons. Wolfe is tied for second on the TLU squad with four goals on the season while adding an assist and being a lockdown defender.

Ana Parra leads all SCAC freshmen with eight assists on the season, including seven against SCAC teams. Also a product of San Antonio, has 14 points on the season and ranks fourth in the SCAC in assists and eighth in points.

Martinez has been a stalwart on the Bulldogs defensive line all season long for the Bulldogs as a freshman, starting all 18 games she appeared in this season. Martinez helped the Bulldogs register six shutouts on the season while scoring four goals from the defender position.

Elaina Barrientes, a Lubbock, Texas, native was named to the All-SCAC Freshman Team. Barrientes registered four goals and tallied two assists in her first year as a Bulldog. Barrientes is currently tied for 12th in the SCAC in points with 10 on the season.

Texas Lutheran has featured at least one player on the All-SCAC Freshman Team every year since the SCAC began recognizing freshmen in 2019.
