Women's Soccer's Alyssa Simien Earns United Soccer Coaches D3 National Honor

SEGUIN, Texas -- The awards keep rolling in for Texas Lutheran's Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) as the sophomore midfielder was selected as the United Soccer Coaches Division-III National Collegiate Player of the Week for the first time in her standout career.

Simien adds the United Soccer Coaches national accolade to a weekly award list tha already included SCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Simien helped power the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend against Dallas and Austin College by scoring five goals for 10 total points on 10 shots (six on goal).

On Sunday, during the 4-0 rout of Austin College, she scored goals at 1:12, 13:17, and 88:26 to complete her first career hat trick and the 26th all-time hat trick in Texas Lutheran program history.

With 14 goals on the season, Simien now matches TLU Hall of Famer Casey Rheman for most goals by a first-year player in TLU Women's Soccer history. Simien now has five game-winners on the season - ranking second in the SCAC and third most in a single-season in program history.

Texas Lutheran will now prepare to visit Schreiner University for a 2 PM match on Friday, Oct. 28, at Mountaineer Soccer Field in Kerrville, Texas. All streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
