Second Half Goals Carry Women's Soccer Past Dallas for Most SCAC Wins in Program History

IRVING, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's soccer team scored three second half goals to earn a 3-1 road win at University of Dallas on Friday. With the win, Texas Lutheran secured its ninth conference win - the most conference wins since joining the SCAC in the fall of 2013.

After a scoreless first half, Klarissa Martinez (Houston/Incarnate Word Academy) scored in the 63rd minute to give Texas Lutheran the lead. It was Martinez's fourth goal of the season - tying her for eighth in the conference and second on the team. Ana Parra (San Antonio/Brennan) was credited with the assist - her team-high sixth of the season.

The Crusaders would tie the game 1-all with a 74th minute goal.

Sophomore Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) scored in the 76th and 86th minute to give Texas Lutheran a two-goal lead down the stretch. Samantha Martinez (Schertz/Clemens) was credited with an assist on Simien's second goal - her third of the season. Simien now has 11 goals on the season - ranking third in the SCAC. Simien also ranks third in the SCAC with 25 points on the season. With 11 goals on the season, Simien is now three goals away from matching the most goals scored by a first-year women's soccer player, a record held by TLU Hall of Famer Casey Rheman (14 goals, 2003). Her four game winning goals on the season move her into fourth all-time for game winners in a single season with Sioned Kirkpatrick holding the record with seven in a single-season in 2015.

The Bulldogs put eight of their 16 shots on target and held the Crusaders to four total shots. Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) allowed one goal and made one save for Texas Lutheran in the second half - picking up her third win of the season in the process.

TLU returns to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 23, against the Austin College 'Roos at the Jack R. Pierce Memorial Complex in Sherman, Texas. The match is slated for 12 PM and all streaming and live stats links can be found on tlubulldogs.com.
