Women's Soccer Turns Aside Schreiner for Fifth Straight Win

SEGUIN, Texas -- Jessica Robinson (Cibolo/Steele), Elaina Barrientes (Lubbock/Coronado), and Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill) each found the back of the net across the first and second halves as Texas Lutheran shut out Schreiner, 3-0, at Gustafson Field Friday night.

With the result, Texas Lutheran (5-5-1, 4-1 SCAC) won its fifth straight match and secured their fourth shut out in their last five games. This marks Texas Lutheran's eighth straight win against Schreiner dating back to 2017.

The Bulldogs limited the Mountaineers to six shots, while putting seven of their 13 shots on goal.

A freshman from Cibolo, Texas, Jessica Robinson's game-winner came in the 10th minute as she scored her first collegiate goal via an assist from Kelly Wolfe.

Barrientes's goal - also her first collegiate goal and the Bulldogs' second of the game - came six minutes later and was made possible with an assist from fellow freshman Ana Parra (San Antonio/Brennan).

Kelly Wolfe - a two-time All-SCAC honoree - scored her first goal of the season following an Elaina Barrientes free kick and passes from Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) and Jessica Robinson to sneak the ball into the bottom right corner for her first goal of the season.

Texas Lutheran played three goalkeepers on the night. TLU starting goalkeeper Madison Johnson (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) made two saves in 45 minutes, while Elena Rivera (New Braunfels/Canyon) made two saves in reserve.

The Bulldogs have shut out four of their last five opponents. Their four clean sheet victories doubles their total from a year ago.

The Bulldogs return to action on Sunday, Oct. 9, as they welcome rival, No.7/8 Trinity to Gustafson Field. The match is scheduled for a 12 PM kickoff. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
