Alyssa Simien Named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week

SEGUIN, Texas -- Following a weekend that saw her score two goals against Austin College and dish an assist in Texas Lutheran's matchup with University of Dallas, Texas Lutheran's women's soccer sophomore Alyssa Simien (San Antonio/Warren) has been rewarded for her efforts with a selection as the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for Week 4.

This marks Simien's first career nod as the league's offensive player of the week in her first season as a Bulldog after transferring from Texas Woman's University where she spent her freshman season and was a Second Team All-Lone Star Conference honoree.

The San Antonio, Texas, native helped power the Bulldogs to a 2-0 weekend against Dallas and Austin College by scoring two goals and dishing an assist for five total points on eight shots (six on-goal).

Last Friday, during the Bulldogs 4-0 rout of Dallas, she set up teammate Ana Parra's (San Antonio/Brennan) game-winner in the sixth minute for her first assist of the season.

On Sunday, Simien scored two of the Bulldogs three goals in their 3-0 shutout victory over Austin College.

Simien currently ranks second in the SCAC in goals (4) and third in points (9).

With the non-conference schedule in the rearview mirror, the Bulldogs continue their SCAC slate as the Bulldogs (2-5-1, 2-1 SCAC) prep to venture out on the road to battle Centenary (Fri., Sept. 30, 6 PM) and University of St. Thomas (Sun., Oct. 2, 1 PM).
