TLU Women's Soccer Falls to UMHB, 1-0

SEGUIN, Texas -- A first half Mary Hardin-Baylor goal proved to be enough despite a valiant effort from Texas Lutheran women's soccer (0-3-1) as they fell to the Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders (4-0) 1-0 Sunday afternoon.

The Bulldogs kept it close throughout thanks to the play in-goal by goalkeepers Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) and Elena Rivera (New Braunfels/Canyon). Phipps would allow the lone goal on six shots defended in-goal while Rivera would save all four shots defended against the Crusaders offensive onslaught. The Crusaders attacked early and often but a goal in the 25th minute gave the Crusaders an advantage that they never relinquished in the second half.

The Crusaders controlled possession for 56 percent of the match and outshot the Bulldogs 21-2.

The Bulldogs return to the pitch Wednesday night as the Bulldogs travel to Austin to face Concordia University at 7 PM. All streaming and live stats links can be found at tlubulldogs.com.
