6 Bulldogs Garner Conference Honors

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer placed six players on the Southern Collegiate All-Conference teams, announced Friday.

Monique Sierra (San Antonio/Taft), Liliana Avila (Blanco/Blanco), Samantha Martinez (Schertz/Clemens), Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs), and Kelly Wolfe (San Antonio/Churchill) each earned spots on All-SCAC teams while Allison Avery (Houston/Cy-Falls) was named to the SCAC All-Freshman team.

Sierra, a senior midfielder from San Antonio, and Avila, a junior from Blanco, were both named Second Team All-SCAC for their performances this season. Due to a spectacular two-goal senior day performance, Sierra finished tied for a team lead in goals with two goals on the season. Avila finished the season with one goal, a game winner against Austin College, but made her presence felt defensively throughout the season. Sierra and Avila were also both named to the SCAC All-Tournament team announced earlier this week.

Martinez, a senior forward from Schertz, Phipps, a freshman goalkeeper from Dripping Springs, and Wolfe, a sophomore defender from San Antonio, all earned All-SCAC Honorable Mention honors. Martinez led the Bulldogs in goals and points for the second consecutive season - finishing the season with two goals and seven points. Phipps had a stellar freshman season, finishing in the top five in the conference in save percentage (.786), goals against (15), and goals against average (1.15). Wolfe impacted games defensively for the Bulldogs but was able to tally one goal on the season.

Avery, a freshman from Houston, was named to the All-Freshman team - netting one goal her freshman season - a game winner against Howard Payne.
