Women's Soccer Suffers 2-0 Defeat to Southwestern

SEGUIN, TX -- Texas Lutheran women's soccer (6-10, 3-4 SCAC) dropped their Saturday afternoon match suffering a 2-0 defeat to SCAC regular season champion Southwestern University (14-1-1, 6-0-1 SCAC) at Gustafson Field.

The Pirates wasted no time getting on the board netting the first goal of the match in the 5th minute. The Pirates would maintain that advantage through the remainder of the half. The Pirates would add a second goal in the 66th minute. The Bulldogs fought to the very end, but the Bulldogs couldn't find the back of the net on their 7 shot attempts as the Bulldogs were unable to avoid the home shutout.

The Pirates outshot the Bulldogs 9-7 and led 6-2 in shots on goal. Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) was active in goal for the Bulldogs saving 4 of her 6 shots defended.

The Bulldogs will need some help as their SCAC Tournament lives are dependent on the result of Centenary's match Sunday. With a Centenary loss, the Bulldogs will make the SCAC tournament as the fourth seed. With a Ladies win or tie, the Bulldogs will be eliminated. All eyes will be on the Centenary versus Dallas matchup Sunday afternoon in Dallas.
