GEORGETOWN, TX -- A first half Southwestern goal proved to be enough despite a valiant effort from Texas Lutheran Women's Soccer (1-3-0) as they fell to the Southwestern Pirates (6-0-0) 1-0 Friday night.
The Bulldogs kept it close throughout thanks to the play in-goal by freshman goalkeeper Charleigh Phipps (Dripping Springs/Dripping Springs) allowing only one goal on seven shots defended in-goal. The Pirates attacked early and often but a goal in the 43rd minute gave the Pirates an advantage that they never relinquished in the second half.
The Pirates controlled possession and outshot the Bulldogs 18-1.
