#RV Texas Lutheran wins share of SCAC Gold Division title with 72-62 victory over Concordia (TX)

AUSTIN, Texas -- Angelina Sotelo (San Marcos/San Marcos) had 16 points, five assists, and four steals while Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) added 13 points and 10 rebounds as #RV Texas Lutheran beat Concordia (TX) 72-62 on Sunday, responding after their five-game win streak was snapped at McMurry on Friday. With the win, Texas Lutheran secured 20 wins in back-to-back seasons for the first time in program history and clinched a share of the SCAC Gold Division Regular Season Championship alongside McMurry.

The SCAC regular season championship is the third in program history and the first SCAC regular season championship since 2015.

For the second straight game Texas Lutheran started slowly, the Bulldogs only managed nine points in the opening period on 18.8 percent shooting while the Tornados, who were celebrating their Senior Day on Sunday, came out firing shooting 53.3 percent from the field to take a 23-9 lead into the second quarter.

Texas Lutheran got in a rhythm in the second quarter outscoring Concordia 26-16 in the period. Jones led the Bulldogs with nine points in the period as the Bulldogs shrunk their deficit to 39-25 entering the locker room.

TLU gradually walked down the Concordia lead, overtaking the Tornados in the third quarter and keeping the Tornados at bay throughout the second half despite numerous efforts to regain the lead. Angelina Sotelo took over in the fourth quarter, putting the game away with 10 points in the final quarter with a number of big shots down the stretch.

Callista Perez (San Antonio/Stevens) joined Sotelo and Jones in double figures with 10 points, four assists, and two steals. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) led the Bulldogs bench with nine points and seven rebounds.

Up next, TLU heads to Irving, Texas, to compete in the 2025 SCAC Championship Tournament. The Bulldogs captured the No. 2 seed in the Gold Division by losing the tiebreaker to McMurry.
