Mulkey Reaches 1,000 Career Points, #RV TLU Off to Best Start Ever Following 89-55 Win over Centenary
SHREVEPORT, LA -- #RV Texas Lutheran women's basketball continues to break its own records in the Troy Patterson era.
The Bulldogs, who started receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 Poll this week, raced past Centenary, 89-55, on Sunday in the Gold Dome in Shreveport to improve to a program record 12-2 to start the season. The torrid run trumps the 11-3 season turned in by the Bulldogs in 1973-74 and the 11-3 start by the Bulldogs a season ago in the 2023-24 campaign.

TLU, winners of seven straight ball games, is also 6-0 to begin SCAC play for the second time in program history joining Patterson's inaugural squad in 2021-22.
Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) and Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) combined for 29 points on an afternoon the Bulldogs shot 55 percent (33-60) from the field.
Mulkey led all players with 19 points and five rebounds, knocking down nine of her 13 shot attempts. With her 19-point performance, Mulkey became just the 13th Bulldog in program history to join the 1,000 point club. Mulkey is the first Bulldog to reach the 1,000 point mark since Kristen Lye and Savannah Hight reached the mark in 2017. Mulkey is just the sixth Bulldog to score 1,000 points since the Bulldogs joined the NCAA at the turn of the century.
Jones scored all ten of her points in the first half and recorded a career-high four blocks. Emerald St. Laurent (The Woodlands/Oak Ridge) joined the duo in double figures with a career-high 11 points off the bench.
Texas Lutheran led for a majority of the game, outscoring the Ladies 56-32 in the first half and cruising the rest of the way with most starters not seeing action in the fourth quarter. The Bulldogs would lead by as many as 37 points late in the game on Sunday. Every active player would see at least four minutes of action for the Bulldogs on Sunday.
The Bulldogs outrebounded a Centenary squad that entered Sunday as the third best rebounding team in the SCAC 43-33. Texas Lutheran scored 30 points off turnovers and outscored the Ladies bench 46-18.
Up next, TLU begins the back half of a four-game road trip with a trip to Irving, Texas, to take on the University of Dallas Crusaders on Friday, January 24. Tip-off is set for 5:30 PM with the game being streamed on FloSports. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
