Texas Lutheran Falls to #RV UMHB, 66-56
BELTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team fell to #RV Mary Hardin-Baylor, 66-56, in non-conference action Saturday evening at the Mayborn Campus Center in Belton.
Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) led the Bulldogs with a season-high 20 points and added seven rebounds and four steals. Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) was the only other Bulldog in double figures, finishing with ten points, four steals, and a team-high three assists. Irianna Rollins (Pflugerville/Connally) led the Bulldogs bench with a career-high nine points and six rebounds.
After an 11-5 start from the Crusaders, the Bulldogs would trail 22-17 after the first quarter as 12 points from Kailee Mulkey kept the game close early. The Bulldogs faced shooting woes in the second quarter as they only managed six points on 13.3% shooting in the quarter as the Crusaders were able to pull away to take a 41-23 lead into the halftime break.
The cold shooting quarter would prove to doom the Bulldogs. They would chip away in the third, out scoring UMHB by three but the Crusaders lead would never fall below ten for the remainder of the game.
The Bulldogs will take a bye week for finals before returning to the floor on December 20th against Division-II Texas A&M-Kingsville in exhibition action. Tip-off is set for 2 PM with the game being streamed on FloSports. The next regular season game for the Bulldogs will be a rematch with the Crusaders on December 29th at Memorial Gymnasium for the Bulldogs first home game since opening weekend in November. Tip-off is set for 2 PM with the game streamed on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
