Women’s Basketball Defeats Pacific (OR), 69-60, Monday

FOREST GROVE, OR -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating Pacific (OR), 69-60, Monday inside Stoller Center to complete the sweep of their three-game west coast road trip that saw the Bulldogs play three games in four days. The matchup with the Boxers was a first in program history with the 2023-24 Northwest Conference runners-up.

Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) recorded her first double-double of the season with 16 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) added 12 points. Sarahi Jones (Los Fresnos/Los Fresnos) nearly had a double-double of her own with 10 points, nine rebounds, and five assists and Emerald St. Laurent (The Woodlands/The Woodlands) matched her career-high with 10 points.

Despite it being their third game in four days, the Bulldogs got off to a hot start, starting the game on an 8-0 run forcing a Boxers timeout. Texas Lutheran shot 45 percent in the first quarter to take a 22-18 lead into the second quarter. A ten turnover second quarter allowed the Boxers to tie the game 32-all heading into the halftime break.

Texas Lutheran put it all together on both sides of the ball for yet another explosive third quarter as the Bulldogs outscored Pacific 25-10 in the third quarter led by eight points from Mulkey. After their ten turnover second quarter, TLU would return the favor in the third forcing nine Boxers turnovers in the quarter. The Boxers would hold the lead for forty seconds early in the period for their only leads of the game.

TLU would hold their largest lead of the game, 17 points, early in the fourth, cruising the rest of the way to earn their fifth straight victory.
