Sansano Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

SEGUIN, Texas -- Texas Lutheran guard Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) was selected to the 2023-24 Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Communicators announced on Tuesday.

Sansano started all 26 games for the Bulldogs this season, averaging 9.9 points on 47.2 percent shooting from the field. The sophomore increased her averages in rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, and assist-to-turnover ratio for a TLU team that went 20-6 and finished as the SCAC regular season runner-up. Sansano was one of the SCAC's best shooters from beyond the arc, finishing fifth overall at 38.6 percent while leading the SCAC in three point percentage in conference play at 46.5 percent. Sansano ranked eighth in the SCAC in assists (2.6) and ninth in steals (1.8).

Outside of basketball, Sansano is a Kinesiology major and holds a 3.934 GPA. This is the first-time Sansano has earned Academic All-District honors and is the first women's basketball player to earn the honor since Kristen Lye in 2017.

The 2023-24 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes women's basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. 

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced April 16, 2024.
