Bulldogs Lap Ladies, 85-48

SEGUIN, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team put its foot on the gas to begin its final three-game homestand, opening the homestand with a decisive 85-48 win over Centenary Friday night at Memorial Gymnasium. Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) led the Bulldogs with 18 points and four assists while Madison Malone (Boling/Boling) added a career-high 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting. The Ladies fall to 2-19, 1-12 SCAC while the Bulldogs improve to 18-5, 11-3 SCAC.

TLU led 39-30 at halftime as the Ladies out shot the Bulldogs early on with the Ladies entering the locker room shooting 42.9% to the Bulldogs 37.8%. TLU held a narrow 18-17 advantage on the glass - including nine offensive rebounds. Mulkey led the Bulldogs with 11 first half points. Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) had five points and had already grabbed four rebounds in 12 minutes of first half action.

Texas Lutheran would cement their win in the third quarter outscoring the short-handed Ladies 26-8 to take 65-38 lead into the fourth. Madison Malone would score 11 of the Bulldogs 20 fourth quarter points, while Juliett Martinez (San Antonio/Reagan) would stuff the stat sheet with three points, five rebounds, and four assists in just 8:30 of action in the fourth. The TLU starting five would not see any action in the final period.

TLU would finish out at 38.7 percent overall from the floor to Centenary's 32.6 percent. TLU committed nine turnovers while the patented TLU defense forced the Ladies into 29 turnovers. The Bulldogs also won on the boards, out rebounding the Ladies, 44-34.

Every available player recorded minutes for the 11th time this season and every available Bulldog scored at least one point.

Texas Lutheran continues their homestand tomorrow, Feb. 10, as they welcome St. Thomas to Memorial Gymnasium. Tip-off is set for 6 PM with a crowd theme of "Jersey Night." The game will be streamed on TLU+. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
