Bulldogs Continue Best Start in Program's NCAA History; Defeat St. Thomas 69-41

HOUSTON, Texas -- The Texas Lutheran women's basketball team continued Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) play defeating St. Thomas, 69-41, on the road Sunday evening inside Jerabeck Athletic and Activity Center as the Bulldogs improved to 13-3 and 6-1 in SCAC play on the season.

With the win, TLU extends their winning streak to five games - matching the longest streak of the season and the Troy Patterson era as well as securing the best start in the program's NCAA history dating back to 2000-01 with their 13-3 record.

Lauren Sansano (San Antonio/FEAST) continued to be an efficient scorer for the Bulldogs, leading the team with 14 points on 5-of. Kailey Lacy (Pflugerville/Hendrickson) scored 13 points in a season-high 24 minutes off the bench. Kailee Mulkey (New Braunfels/New Braunfels) continued to stuff the stat sheet in limited minutes Sunday, tallying eight points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 19 minutes of action.

The Bulldogs dominated the first quarter, opening the game on an 11-0 run and carrying an 18-6 lead into the second period.

The Bulldogs began to pull away in the second quarter, outscoring the Celts (4-10, 2-4 SCAC) 14-10 in the period. The Bulldogs would lead by as many as 20 points in the period and carry a 32-16 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs ran away with it in the second half going on a 24-8 run over the course of the third quarter while shooting 53.8% from the field. TLU would lead by as many as 35 points in the third quarter and would cruise through the remainder of the game.

The Bulldogs led for the entire game Sunday evening for their sixth wire-to-wire victory this season. Every available player recorded minutes for the fifth time in six games and for the eighth time this season.

Texas Lutheran enters their designated off week in first place in the SCAC and will continue their road trip by traveling to Kerrville for a rematch with the Schreiner Mountaineers on January 19. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM. All streaming and live stats links will be available on tlubulldogs.com.
